Mowglis Review – March 2025 March 2025’s visit and review was at Mowglis, in Beachampton. This is a slightly unusual venue, since it was originally the village pub, then turned into a curry restaurant and pub at the time of our last visit. It’s fair to say, since a change of ownership, it has now gone the whole way toward restaurant whilst retaining a small bar area. A few of us met in Stony for a couple of beers and a few went straight to the restaurant. There’s capacity for maybe fifty covers, with about thirty in at our table time of 7:30 pm. The decoration is very smart. The staff were attentive and showed us quickly to our table, six of us this month. Drinks and poppadums were prompt but order for starters and mains was a bit tardy. I shared a mixed fish platter to start with two others. The prevailing view was that although pleasant enough, the all-pervading sauce dominated the dish which could well have been from a frozen sea-food pack. They let themselves down a little by being late with one starter but were very apologetic for the rest of the evening. Portions were a good size. A common trend was noted for the main courses. Pretty good. My lamb dansak was very enjoyable, good size, good flavour, tender lamb – maybe it could have been a little spicier. Would I go to Mowglis again? If I lived locally, yes. A bit out of the way for west MK with nearer competition. An enjoyable evening none the less, with thanks to the drivers. Judge Balti
